Nothing is choreographed and although we do similar stretches, warm ups and cool downs, the actual work out varies from class to class. Your body will never get used to doing the same routine by coming to my classes on a regular basis. I promise it'll always be as tough as the first time you came! :)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Fat Burning Cardio: &lt;/b&gt;This is a 20min class that is designed specifically to burn fat stores. Its most effective if done in the morning on an empty stomach. (Be sure to drink a big glass of water before you workout though!) This class is self-paced and timed. Its done in 60 second intervals which increase in intensity each minute. Just 4 block intervals and the workout is over! Research suggests* (actual research on MILLIONS of people, I'm not just saying that!) that this workout -20 min done 3x per week, paired with heavy lifting and the right DIET, is ALL you need to loose weight and get in the best shape possible.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="post-body entry-content" style="color: seashell; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.4; position: relative; width: 490px;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: black;"&gt;*All stats can be found in Body For Life&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="post-body entry-content" style="color: seashell; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.4; position: relative; width: 490px;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: black;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Abs Lab:&lt;/b&gt;&amp;nbsp;My abs class is only 30 minutes. It goes by really quick... and you get a great workout. Its all abs! Plus, I usually add in some back... since you need a strong back to have strong abs! Some classes will have short bursts of cardio to rev up your metabolism. Moderate to high intensity.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Body Pump&lt;/b&gt;: One of my favorites!! I love this class. Its a whole body workout and very intense. You get a little bit of everything... lots of variety... and way fun! Intervals of high intensity cardio with resistance weight training. You'll be out of breath and your body will feel weak from head to toe. This class is concentrated and INTENSE. Burn more calories in 30 min than you would in most 60 minute classes. Warm-up, 15 min workout, cool down.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: black;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: normal;"&gt;The workout is made up of 3 simple elements which will wok the entire body. I will give you the number of reps to do and then the timer starts. You're working against the clock and competing with yourself. Great cardio workout... with some resistance for definition and toning.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="post-body entry-content" style="color: seashell; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.4; position: relative; width: 490px;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: black;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Plyometrics&lt;/b&gt;: Athletic jump drills and training. This is the ultimate way to get toned and take your fitness to the next level. 4 different sets of 30 second high intense cardio drills followed by a 30 second rest period. This class is just 45 minutes. You NEED TO! Time yourself and let me know how you do. I have to say that I am so proud of myself for doing the 1000 rep workout in &lt;b&gt;26 min 15 sec&lt;/b&gt;!!! (Yay for me!) Try and beat that time!!!!! Seriously!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As this new year starts and everyone is making goals... Should be interesting to see how fast everyone can go!&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f3f3f3; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 21px;"&gt;I didn't time us in class last night (dang it!) Finish the list of all 10 exercises then repeat the list TEN TIMES!! So ALWAYS check the blog to make sure there are no cancelled classes for the week. It goes by really quick... and you get a great workout. Its all abs! Plus, I usually add in some back... since you need a strong back to have strong abs! Some classes will have short bursts of cardio to rev up your metabolism. Moderate to high intensity.&lt;span style="font: 11.0px 'Lucida Grande';"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;b&gt;Body Pump&lt;/b&gt;: One of my favorites!! I love this class. Its a whole body workout and very intense. You get a little bit of everything... lots of variety... and way fun! Intervals of high intensity cardio with resistance weight training. You'll be out of breath and your body will feel weak from head to toe. An awesome work out!&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font: 11.0px Times; line-height: 18.0px; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Condensed Cardio:&lt;/b&gt; Get ready to sweat! This class is concentrated and INTENSE. Burn more calories in 30 min than you would in most 60 minute classes. Warm-up, 15-20 min workout, cool down.&amp;nbsp;The workout is made up of 3 simple elements which will wok the entire body. I will give you the number of reps to do and then the timer starts. You're working against the clock and competing with yourself. High intensity&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="font: 11.0px Times; line-height: 18.0px; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Fat Burning Cardio: &lt;/b&gt;&amp;nbsp;Just 20 minutes of cardio intervals that maximize fat burning. This is all you need for your cardio! Short and efficient! &amp;nbsp;This is a morning class and it should be done before you eat breakfast! Cardio in a fasting state burns up to 300% more calories! This class is just 45 minutes. Hope summer is treating you well. I am having a wonderful (tan) time in sunny San Antonio TX.&lt;br /&gt;I've been doing a lot of research, taking classes, teaching, and reading so I can be an even better instructor for ya'll! (I am in Texas. I had to say it)&lt;br /&gt;Anyway, I am wanting to change things up a bit this fall.&lt;br /&gt;I'm going to try and teach a few MORNING classes!! What do you think?&lt;br /&gt;It will be &lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"&gt;WORTH&lt;/span&gt; getting up for!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;You burn up to 300% more calories in the morning than at any other time of day.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&amp;nbsp;You burn more &lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: large;"&gt;fat&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt; when you do cardio in a&lt;i&gt; fasting state &lt;/i&gt;(first thing in the morning)&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;You continue to burn more fat &lt;u&gt;after&lt;/u&gt; your workout with techniques in the classes Ill be teaching in the morning. &amp;nbsp;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I'm thinking 2 days a week 8:15-8:35am. 20 minute CARDIO classes to get your metabolism revved up for the day. Doing too much cardio can be counter-productive. (Too long and too often=bad) These workouts will be short and intense, just a few days per week and done in perfect intervals so you'll never acclimate. It'll always keep your body &lt;b&gt;burning stored fat&lt;/b&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I am also thinking of doing a few of evening classes 2x/week. I posted a poll on the blog. Please VOTE. Here are some photos from my Triathlon.&lt;br /&gt;It was AWESOME. Totally loved it. ...except I crashed (hard!) on my bike. That sucked. I got severe whip-lash and a concussion. Good thing I was wearing a helmet... which ended up cracked from hitting the pavement. Nothing is choreographed and although we do similar stretches, warm ups and cool downs, the actual work out varies from class to class. It goes by really quick... and you get a great workout. Its all abs! Plus, I usually add in some back... since you need a strong back to have strong abs! Some classes will have short bursts of cardio to rev up your metabolism. Moderate to high intensity.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Body Pump&lt;/b&gt;: One of my favorites!! I love this class. Its a whole body workout and very intense. You get a little bit of everything... lots of variety... and way fun! Intervals of high intensity cardio with resistance weight training. You'll be out of breath and your body will feel weak from head to toe. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up on some changes coming Fall '10.&lt;br /&gt;I'm doing a &lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: large;"&gt;semester-long Fitness Bootcamp!&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt; ...and I'm really excited about it!! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"&gt;Here's how it works:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;At the beginning of the semester (or this summer) you buy a punch pass for 5, 10 or 15 bootcamp sessions. Throughout the semester I'll offer sessions and&amp;nbsp;you can pick and choose when to attend, so it fits &lt;em&gt;your&lt;/em&gt; schedule! I'll offer a total of 18-20 sessions on various days of the week, at various times.&amp;nbsp;Since I'll offer more sessions than you have punches for,&amp;nbsp;you wont have to&amp;nbsp;worry about missing a few sessions!&amp;nbsp;The Bootcamp calendar will be given to you along with your punch pass.&lt;br /&gt;Punch passes are non-refundable and non-transferable and expire at the end of the semester. Basically, only you can use it, you only have fall semester to use all your punches, and its use them or loose them. I think using them should be simple with the varied session format. As soon as I hear back from him I'll post a schedule... and start teaching ASAP. &lt;br /&gt;I'm thinking of teaching Monday around 4 pm and Tuesday around 8 pm.&lt;br /&gt;As for the starting date... I'm ready to get going next week, but will have to wait until I hear back from my boss.&lt;br /&gt;I've missed teaching and am excited to start classes.&lt;br /&gt;Hopefully you guys will be ready to start too... (Much better than 8 weeks early!!)&lt;br /&gt;In case you're wondering, he was born December 16th. 6 lbs 0 oz, 20 inches. Labor was EASY!! Less than 30 minutes! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;During the end of my pregnancy I tore my pelvis. (OUCH!) I have to really take it easy so I can heal... This will definitely affect how often I'll teach and when I can start working out. ...Depends on what my doctor orders. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So, I don't know what's happening for Spring semester. I'm fine and so it he, but I'm ordered to be on strict bed-rest until he does come. (Which could be in the next 2 weeks!! Crazy!)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So.... have a great rest of the semester!... Nothing is choreographed and although we do similar stretches, warm ups and cool downs, the actual work out varies from class to class. Your body will never get used to doing the same routine by coming to my classes on a regular basis. I promise it'll always be as tough as the first time you came! :)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Step: My step class is pretty traditional with basic step combinations. Moderate to high impact. We do about 30 minutes of cardio, then end the class with strength training/resistance.&lt;br /&gt;Kick Box: This is a pretty intense class... but its also fun! We combine traditional moves, jab, cross, upper-cut, hook, blocks, knees and kicks. Moderate to high intensity. Great cardio workout... with some resistance for definition and toning.&lt;br /&gt;Abs Lab: My abs class is only 30 minutes. It goes by really quick... and you get a great workout. Its all abs! Plus, I usually add in some back... since you need a strong back to have strong abs! Some classes will have short bursts of cardio to rev up your metabolism.&lt;br /&gt;Body Pump: One of my favorites!! I love this class. Its a whole body workout and very intense. You get a little bit of everything... lots of variety... and way fun! Intervals of high intensity cardio with resistance weight training. You'll be out of breath and your body will feel weak from head to toe. An awesome work out!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Make sure you bring your SUU ID cards! I'm still working on getting an exact schedule. BUT I do know classes will start after Labor Day, Sept 7th. &lt;br /&gt;So plan on being there Tuesday Sept 8th. &lt;br /&gt;Thanks for your input. To answer some questions:&lt;br /&gt;All classes are between 4-8pm. &lt;br /&gt;Classes are for Students only. Bootcamps are OPEN to anyone and everyone. &lt;br /&gt;We will definitely have ABS and Kickbox! And probably a lifting/cardio class. The final one will be Plyometrics or Step. Which one?&lt;br /&gt;Okay... Tuna fish, egg white and chicken are great sources of protein... BUT, they are whole foods. Whole foods digest slowly and you want something FAST. Whey protein is your best option. And you should have it in liquid form. (which will digest even faster!) So... a protein shake is your best option for an 'after workout meal'. And you want to have it ASAP. Shoot for 30 min to 1 hr after your workout. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The next thing you'll want are carbs. Carbs will be used by your body to restore muscle glycogen. If your post workout meal doesn't contain carbs, your body may actually instead break down muscle tissue for this same purpose. That would be a bad thing. Carbs also create an insulin spike which helps to move nutrients into your muscle tissue quicker. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You don't want 'good carbs' like wheat bread or brown rice because they have fiber (slows digestion) Something like a baked potato would be a better choice. But, again, that is a whole food. If you really want to go extreme, you will want dextrose (which is a form of sugar) I'm not saying to eat cookies!! Dextrose can be found in powder form and mixed into your protein drink. (there may even be drinks out there that already have it. ??) You can buy low-cal protein drinks that are better for women. We are looking for the nutrients but not the calories. (unlike guys who want more cals for bulking up.) &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The one thing you DO NOT want after a work out is fat. Fats can be good... and we definitely need them in our diet. But fats slow down digestion and will counter the benefits of eating protein and carbs after a work out. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So what about before?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In general, the closer you get to your workout start time, the fewer calories you should eat. The nutrients that make up those calories should also shift. It takes the body four to six hours to digest fat, about three hours to digest protein and about two hours to digest carbohydrates.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So, here are a few rules of thumb to follow: &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;*If your workout is four hours away, eat a regular meal that combines protein, fat and carbohydrates, then have a small carbohydrate-rich snack closer to your exercise session to tide you over. &lt;br /&gt;*Three hours before working out, make it a smaller meal and lighten up a bit on the protein and fat. &lt;br /&gt;*Thirty to 90 minutes before exercise, have a snack of easily digested carbohydrates &lt;br /&gt;*If you only have 15 minutes, go for a sports drink or a few Saltines. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; The science of nutrition can really play a big role in fitness, weightloss and sculpting your ideal body. You have got to start bringing your SUU Student ID card to every class. I've welcomed anyone to join us as long as there is room and enough equipment. Well- there is no longer room!! Which is a good and bad thing! I'm so happy to have so much support. But I just don't have room for these HUGE classes. (Some times up to 60 PEOPLE. I cannot believe that many bodies fit into my aerobics room!) &lt;br /&gt;Starting next week (March 2, 2009) Anyone who doesn't have a current SUU ID will not be able to come in. (Unless there is extra equipment!) ....So even if you're a student, without your ID card, you cant come in if we're full. &lt;br /&gt;I'm also working on teaching a 'non-student' class... with a small fee ($1-$2) or a punch pass. I will let you know when or if that happens. It may not be until Fall '09.&lt;br /&gt;For now- BRING YOUR ID CARDS... Someone they spoke to thought it countered your workout if you stretch. (that it would 'un-do' what you just did.) So I wanted to clarify... &lt;br /&gt;stretching is part of the cool down. It important in injury prevention. Research suggests it may not help with muscle soreness after a workout, but that is controversial. I personally think it feels good to stretch after an intense workout! ...Thats why we do it at the end of my classes. (whether it will make you less sore or not!) Warm up is equally important and can prevent injury. Moderate to high impact. We do about 40 minutes of &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2"&gt;cardio&lt;/span&gt;, then end the class with strength training, resistance and core.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Kick Box&lt;/strong&gt;: This is a pretty intense class... but its also fun! We combine traditional moves, jab, cross, upper-cut, hook, blocks, knees and kicks.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Abs Lab&lt;/strong&gt;: My abs class is only 30 minutes. It goes by really quick... and you get a great workout. Its all abs! Plus, I add in some back... since you need a strong back to have strong abs! Some classes will have short bursts of &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3"&gt;cardio&lt;/span&gt; to rev up your metabolism.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Body Pump&lt;/strong&gt;: One of my favorites!! I love this class. Its a whole body workout and very intense. You get a little bit of everything... lots of variety... and way fun! You'll be out of breath and your body will feel weak from head to toe. An awesome work out!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Plyometrics&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/span&gt;: This isn't a well known form of &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_6"&gt;exercise&lt;/span&gt;, unless you're an &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_7"&gt;athlete&lt;/span&gt;. Basically, &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_8"&gt;plyometrics&lt;/span&gt; is designed to make you run faster and jump higher by training with jump drills. Its a lot of leg work, jumping, hopping, sprinting, and running. Your heart will really be pumping! This is an intense workout... great for muscle confusion and to add variety to your exercise routine.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;p&gt;All my classes are different. I never teach the same thing twice. I like to keep you on your toes to make sure your body &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_9"&gt;doesn't&lt;/span&gt; ever get use to the same old workout.
