1000 Rep Workout!

If you missed class last night... I think you missed one of the hardest workouts I've done. I'm including it here on the blog so you can do it at home during Christmas break! No equipment required! Get a friend or family member to join you for the workout!!! 
TIME YOURSELF and comment about how long it took you! Should be interesting to see how fast everyone can go!
I didn't time us in class last night (dang it!) I think it was close to 40 min.


Do 10 reps per workout. Finish the list of all 10 exercises then repeat the list TEN TIMES!! By the end (no breaks, no stopping) you'll have done 1000 reps!


Here's the workout: 
10 Burpees (plank, get into a ball, stand up, jump, drop back down to a plank)
10 Squat Jumps
10 Push Ups
10 Toe Touch Sit Ups
10 Tricept Dips 
10 Tuck Jumps (knees to your chest)
10 Plank Jax
10 Split Lunges (standing mt climbers)
10 Leg Drops (on your back, straight legs up to the ceiling, drop to floor then back up)
10 Squat Thrusts (bottom half of a burpee)

FALL BREAK

Hey students.... the University will be closed this month for Fall Break.
       No classes the following dates:
Thursday Oct 13th
Monday Oct 17th
Tuesday Oct 18th (I am still checking to see if the building will be open or not. If its open I will plan on teaching. Until I post a definite answer, plan on Tuesday's classes being CANCELLED due to Fall Break!)

Its a cardio class and we're all over the PE building... inside and outside!
Be on time! Otherwise we might be hard to find. And if you are a little late, look around and try to find us! ...Intramural fields, basketball courts, stairs, indoor track, etc.
I hate to think that people come to my class a little late then go home disappointed. We're around some where!
And if you haven't tried this class yet, DO! You're done by 8:40am and have time to take a quick shower here at the PE building and still be on time to your 9am class!

Classes Cancelled

The week of Sept 11-17th there will be NO classes on Monday Sept 12th, and no classes on Thursday Sept 15th.
I'll be there to teach all the other classes on Tuesday and Wednesday!
Keep in mind that I travel a lot and sometimes I'm out of town during the scheduled class times! So ALWAYS check the blog to make sure there are no cancelled classes for the week. I try and give a weeks notice if a class is cancelled.

The Schedule!!

Here it is... the Fall 2011 fitness class schedule:
  • Monday 815-840am Fat Burning Cardio
  • Monday 4-5pm Kickbox
  • Tuesday 715-8pm Plyometrics or Body Pump
  • Tuesday 8-830pm Abs Lab
  • Wednesday 815-840am Fat Burning Cardio

Class Descriptions:
...What to expect...
Abs Lab: My abs class is only 30 minutes. It goes by really quick... and you get a great workout. Its all abs! Plus, I usually add in some back... since you need a strong back to have strong abs! Some classes will have short bursts of cardio to rev up your metabolism. Moderate to high intensity.
Body Pump: One of my favorites!! I love this class. Its a whole body workout and very intense. You get a little bit of everything... lots of variety... and way fun! Intervals of high intensity cardio with resistance weight training. You'll be out of breath and your body will feel weak from head to toe. An awesome work out!
Condensed Cardio: Get ready to sweat! This class is concentrated and INTENSE. Burn more calories in 30 min than you would in most 60 minute classes. Warm-up, 15-20 min workout, cool down. The workout is made up of 3 simple elements which will wok the entire body. I will give you the number of reps to do and then the timer starts. You're working against the clock and competing with yourself. High intensity
Fat Burning Cardio:  Just 20 minutes of cardio intervals that maximize fat burning. This is all you need for your cardio! Short and efficient!  This is a morning class and it should be done before you eat breakfast! Cardio in a fasting state burns up to 300% more calories! The cardio intervals are done on your own levels so you'll never acclimate and you'll continue with results. During these classes we'll also discuss diet and exercise so you can get better results! 
Kick Box: This is a pretty intense class... but its also fun! In 45 minutes we combine traditional moves, jab, cross, upper-cut, hook, blocks, knees and kicks. Moderate to high intensity. Great cardio workout... with some resistance for definition and toning.
Plyometrics: Athletic jump drills and training. This is the ultimate way to get toned and take your fitness to the next level. 4 different sets of 30 second high intense cardio drills followed by a 30 second rest period. This class is just 45 minutes. Its tough... but you can do it!
Rock bottom: This is the alternative to my 30 min Abs Lab. Rock bottom is all butt/legs. Its just 30 min. A quick way to lift and tone your booty! Moderate intensity.

Make sure you bring your SUU ID cards!

FALL Line-up

Hey everyone! Hope summer is treating you well. I am having a wonderful (tan) time in sunny San Antonio TX.
I've been doing a lot of research, taking classes, teaching, and reading so I can be an even better instructor for ya'll! (I am in Texas. I had to say it)
Anyway, I am wanting to change things up a bit this fall.
I'm going to try and teach a few MORNING classes!! What do you think?
It will be WORTH getting up for!

  • You burn up to 300% more calories in the morning than at any other time of day.
  •  You burn more fat when you do cardio in a fasting state (first thing in the morning)
  • You continue to burn more fat after your workout with techniques in the classes Ill be teaching in the morning.  

I'm thinking 2 days a week 8:15-8:35am. 20 minute CARDIO classes to get your metabolism revved up for the day. Doing too much cardio can be counter-productive. (Too long and too often=bad) These workouts will be short and intense, just a few days per week and done in perfect intervals so you'll never acclimate. It'll always keep your body burning stored fat.

I am also thinking of doing a few of evening classes 2x/week. I posted a poll on the blog. Please VOTE. Let me know what your opinion is. I really take your input into consideration when I make the schedule! Any other comments or questions, please e mail me!

My TRI!

Hey! Here are some photos from my Triathlon.
It was AWESOME. Totally loved it. ...except I crashed (hard!) on my bike. That sucked. I got severe whip-lash and a concussion. Good thing I was wearing a helmet... which ended up cracked from hitting the pavement. Glad the helmet cracked rather than my head!


My cute husband finished 3rd place for his age group! And I was 9th for mine! I'm MAD about my crash... it wrecked my time. I probably could've placed too.

Next time I'll do better... and I wont crash!! :)

Classes are all at their regular times this week. Because of my concussion I'll have to take it easy for at least a week. ...But I can definitely tell you what to do!

Sorry guys, I have to cancel classes today. (Mon March 7th) I'm really sick with the flu. Besides not being able to teach/workout, I would hate to pass this bug on to anyone else!

You'll never come to the same class twice since each class is unique. Nothing is choreographed and although we do similar stretches, warm ups and cool downs, the actual work out varies from class to class. Your body will never get used to doing the same routine by coming to my classes on a regular basis. I promise it'll always be as tough as the first time you came! :)

Bootcamp Punch Pass: This is a small group personal training session! We cover everything! And the bootcamp session isn't limited to the aerobics room. I take the group all over campus and Cedar City for intense, unique workouts. If you're looking for results, you need this class. Punch pass required.
